Week 26 - Project 365

PROJECT 365 - A PHOTO A DAY FOR A FULL YEAR

Day 176 - Valieant Bridge was erected in memory of Joan Valieant - teacher and environmentalist - built by Rockville High School students. I didn't know Ms. Valieant but she must have been quite a lady.

Day 177 - I was mesmerized watching the balloons blowing in the wind while sitting at a red light.

Day 178 - I made several family signs years ago and it's become a tradition for my kids to take a special picture for the birthday person every year. Guess who has a birthday later this week?

Day 179 - No school due to snow means that the kids finally get to try out the Zipfy sleds that they got for Christmas.

Day 180 - For pick up only! :)

Day 181 - The Sims Family is staying nice and cozy despite all our snow and very cold weather.

Day 182 - I pass this beautiful field all the time on my way home ... it looks especially beautiful covered in snow.

The Amazing "Q" - Part 2

I love my job but being able to work with a newborn baby makes my job fantastic! This little beauty is simply amazing ...

The Amazing "Q" - Part 1

At only 5 days old - I was amazed at how alert this beautiful little girl was. Being born 1-11-11 during the 1 o'clock hour ... means a special life indeed. I love my job and it doesn't get any better then photographing a new baby ...

The New Addition

One of the greatest parts of my job is being able to watch the families I've come to know grow! Little Baby Q arrived into this world on January 11, 2011 (1-11-11) - what an extraordinary day to be born.

U.S. Botanic Garden

We caught the last day of the U.S. Botanic Garden's holiday show on January 2nd ... it was also the last day of winter break for the kids. We are so blessed to be living in an area that has so much to offer - anything connected to the Smithsonian's in Washington D.C. is free!

Week 25 - Project 365

PROJECT 365 - A PHOTO A DAY FOR A FULL YEAR

Day 169 - Sitting at a red light this morning in Silver Spring's - I saw these building sculptures at the high school and I had to snap this picture.

Day 170 - With the kids out of school today we headed to the National Gallery of Art in DC ... what a great way to spend a really cold afternoon.

Day 171 - We've got ice!

Day 172 - Cactus Cantina in Washington, DC has the best Mexican food around ... the seafood enchiladas are my all time favorite!

Day 173 - I've passed this rustic shack many times going to Butler's Orchard - so while I was out running errands today I decided to swing by for my photo.

Day 174 - Leaving the house today - I caught sight of my favorite place ... our home!

Day 175 - We came across this caution cone today while hiking in one of our favorite places ... I'm hoping that there wasn't a bear sighting in the area.

Grammy and her Girls

This is my mom aka Grammy and she spent Thanksgiving with us along with my Uncle T. Since we live so far apart and don't get to see each other as much as we would like - I thought it would be nice for my mom to have some photos with her only grandchildren.

Week 24 - Project 365

PROJECT 365 - A PHOTO A DAY FOR A FULL YEAR

Day 162 - Darrell spent a good part of yesterday & today cutting up a tree that fell out back. I helped by taking this picture! :)

Day 163 - I found today's picture at the bus stop thanks to one very stylish and thirsty mom.

Day 164 - I finally got around to photographing the finished product of our home grown crystals.

Day 165 - Looking out the window this morning I saw these icicles on the backside of our Boxwood Bush - the space between the house and the bush is only a few inches - which made taking this photo a little difficult.

Day 166 - My very dirty van tire.

Day 167 - Just finishing up one of my many projects around the house.

Day 168 - I pass St. John's Episcopal Church in Olney, MD all the time. I thought it looked lovely this morning against the blue sky.

Sweet Little "A" - Part 2

What a beautiful baby girl! I thought since she was only 7 days old that she would be sound asleep throughout the photo session --- I was wrong! It was incredible at how alert this little girl was. This was my first session of 2011 - I hope that the rest of my year is as amazing as sweet little "A" is!

Sweet Little "A" - Part 1

What a fantastic way to start off my 2011 --- a newborn baby session! This sweet little lady was just 7 days old during this session! I'll post the part 2 photos tomorrow ...

Week 23 - Project 365

PROJECT 365 - A PHOTO A DAY FOR A FULL YEAR

Day 155 - I love this model of the U.S. Capital - which is part of the permanent collection at the U.S. Botanic Garden. Just another fantastic and free thing to see in D.C.

Day 156 - I was excited to see that I had plenty of time to do my shopping ... then I realized that this town clock was wrong by 1.5 hours.

Day 157 - I thought that it would be fun to join a community FB page on Project 365's. I join yesterday and this weeks theme is time.

Day 158 - This old clock was one of the things moved to make room for our Christmas decor ... it came back out of the closet today.

Day 159 - Happy 3 Kings Day - Feast of Epiphany.

Day 160 - As a side job years ago I spent hours "spotting" photos by hand. With today technology editing can be done within seconds on the computer. However, that old spotting skill has come in handy when I've missed something with the computer editing.

Day 161 - We spent a couple of hours Meadowside Nature Center this afternoon. The kids love playing inside this Dugout Canoe.

Uncle T and the Girls

I'm extremely lucky to have my Uncle T - he has always been there for me as both an Uncle and as a friend. This past Thanksgiving my Uncle T and my mom flew out to spend the holiday with us from Nevada. I snapped off some frames hoping to be able to give him a little something special for Christmas. As you can see my girls love their Great Uncle T as much as I do and it truly warms my heart to see them all together.
We love you Uncle T - thank you for everything you've done for us over the years!

Happy 2011

It's hard to believe that 2011 is here! My wish for everyone is a healthy & happy new year!

My photographic goals for 2011 ...

1) To get a little more adventurous with my photography. I tend to be more traditional with my style ... I would like to step outside the box a little.

2) To pay off my equipment and continue adding to my collection. It would be really nice to own a Canon 7D plus I have several lens that I would love to have.

3) I love Adobe Lightroom 3 - it helps me stay organized plus does a great job on basic editing needs. However, I want to go beyond Lightroom and learn CS5 (PhotoShop).

4) Most of all ... I want to photograph more and make some new friends along the way!
