Candlewood Lake with the Waters
Back in July we had the pleasure of boating once again on Candlewood Lake (in Connecticut) with our dear friends the Waters Family. The girls and I got to go boating twice - once with my in-laws and nephew and few days later with my husband. Unfortunately, I made a huge mistake on our second trip ... I erased my media card before uploading it to the computer ... it makes me sick to the stomach to think of my lost photos but mistakes do happen. At any rate both boating adventures were a ton of fun with lots of good food and the company of some of our favorite people.

C.L.C.'s Art Camp - Week 2
The second week of Creative Learning Center's summer program was just as much fun as the first week. It's amazing what a child can create when given the freedom and encouragement to do so. At our camp mess was a must and everyone got a little dirty (some more then others). My reward at the end of each day was seeing beautiful works of art being created right before my eyes.

Weir Farm National Historic Site
Weir Farm National Historic Site in Connecticut is an amazing location dedicated to providing artists a creative refuge to inspire great works of art. After walking the grounds of Weir Farm it was easy to see why artists from around the world are eager to be chosen for the Artist-in-Residence Program.

Kent Falls
Into between my summer camps we took a trip to Kent Falls in Connecticut. The day involved a little straight up hill climbing but it was well worth it! We enjoyed a picnic lunch and after our hike to the top of the falls ... my crew cooled off with a dip in the stream.

C.L.C's Art Camp - Week 1
I spent part of my summer in Connecticut teaching at Creative Learning Center's art camp. It was a hot couple of weeks --- the east coast had recorded temperatures everywhere but despite the heat we had a great time. We had a lot of great projects for the kids and studied some fabulous artists. My kids and nephew were also a part of the fun - it was wonderful watching them create some masterpieces along with the rest of the kids at camp.

10th Anniversary of 9/11/01
The Harwich Fire Department held a 10th Anniversary Ceremony in honor of 9/11/01. The 343 Firefighters who lost their lives that day were each represented by an American flag. I happen to be out running errands with my kids when I saw all the flags flying -- it was a powerful sight to see so I had to stop and check it out. We met three of our local firefighters who filled me in on the events earlier in the day ... I'm disappointed that I missed the ceremony.
