Project 2012 - Week 7

Day 43 -  I had a 'mini' engagement session today --- despite it being below freezing outside it was  beautiful!
Day 44 - Tonight we were busy putting Valentine's together for the kids to take to school tomorrow.
*I thought this looked like the moon in the background but it's just my kitchen light

Day 45 - Today I received my test prints and welcome package from MPixPro --- I love how everything turned out!
Day 46 - Just I spot I was driving by in between our rain showers this afternoon.
Day 47 - This morning my 4 year old Shhh'd me - what could I do but laugh out loud?
Day 48 - This little shell has been sitting on my walk way for weeks now (thanks to one of my girls) and it always catches my attention ...
Day 49 - Who doesn't love flowers?

Beautiful Baby J - Part 1

At just 10 days old Beautiful Baby J  is simply amazing.    In between snack breaks and diaper changes  -  I enjoyed chatting with the new mom & dad about everything under the sun.  Newborn sessions can take several hours and this session was no exception but I enjoyed every second of it.  Beautiful Baby J's solo portraits will be posted tomorrow ...

Project 2012 - Week 6

Day 36 - We took a family walk at Forest Beach this afternoon and I found this little boat that is in need of alot of TLC.
Day 37 -  Testing out my Canon 85mm 1.8 lens --- I had been dying to get a prime lens for the longest time and so I bought this one over a year ago. When I first got the lens I discovered that I wasn't a fan of the fixed focal length --- it takes a lot to get use to! So sadly it's been packed away since I got it but I thought I would give it another try today -  after all the reviews on this lens where very positive. Anyways, I've now decided that I might like this lens after all. It's hard to get the focus right though so I want to try it out on an older subject who doesn't move around as much as my 4 year old.

PS - I was also trying out my new Gary Fong LightSphere Diffuser ... love it (but boy is it hard to attached to my flash)!
Day 38 - From the parking lot of the store --- I always notice this abandoned house. It's an eye sore for sure but as a photographer I think it's pretty cool!
Day 39 - I'm still trying to figure out if I like my 85 mm 1.8 lens ... I'm getting used to the fixed focal length but I'm just not sure about focusing this lens. I was aiming my focus points on her eyes and yet the hat is sharper then her eyes ...
Day 40 -  I came across this piece of drift wood today while taking a walk on the beach
Day 41 - Okay ... I'm finally coming around on liking my 85mm Canon Lens. Today's victim -my beautiful 9 year old daughter.
Day 42 - Today was a Pj's kind of day!

Project 2012 - Week 5

Day 29 - Today we took a train ride on the Old Colony Railway in Rhode Island. When I looked to my right I saw the engineer and knew that this was my photo.
Day 30 - It was cold today and I didn't want to spend too much time outside ... so I drove to the beach and spotted this seagull at once and the next thing I know -- I've got my photo (less then five minutes out in the cold).
Day 31 - I came across this boat today while running errands. The inside of the boat serves as a tourist information center but the really magic is the backside .... I love how the blue & gray of the boat look against the sky.
Day 32 - It was a busy day with little time for photographs - I took this just a few minutes before the sun set.
Day 33 - Today was the parent open house at the middle school. If the school looks dark and scary that's because that's the way I saw it today. At just 10 years old my daughter will be catching the bus to school at 6:30 am - no more recess --- instead she'll have 7 minutes of "Fresh Air Time" and don't get me started on the manditory week trip without parents!
I'm sure everything will be fine and she'll adjust well. And to be fair the school really isn't this dark and gloomy ... it's just that change is hard especially when it involves your baby.
Day 34 - Since Jan. 12, 2012 - 111 dolphins have stranded themselves along the Cape Cod Bay - only 30 have survived (it's heartbreaking that some many haven't). Yesterday though was a good day for 9 stranded dolphins - they we're sucessfully rescued and later released back into the wild. Long story short - I was drawn to the beach today - I couldn't walk the beach like I had hoped (my little one fell asleep in the car) but looking out into the distance I was hoping that all the beautiful creatures of the sea were safe and sound.
Day 35 - Today my Daisy Girl Scout Troop joined other local troops to make Valentine's for Veterans. The 35+ girls made over 400 cards in an hour ... they all did an amazing job!
