The E.L. Patch Pharmaceutical Company

My husband's great grandfather was E.L. Patch of    The E.L. Patch Pharmaceutical Company  based outside of Boston, MA in the early 1900's.  While still getting adjusted to our new home on Cape Cod - I came across several items from the company in our basement.  Nervous  that I would break something - I thought it wise to record the items  on film (plus it was part of my Christmas gift to my  father-in-law).   My curiosity has been sparked and I'm looking forward to learning  more about the Patch family history.

  3. My grandfather, Robert H. Bradley, worked as a maintenance man for the E L Patch Co in the 1930's and 1940's. He walked to work every day from his home at 71 Spring St. Stoneham. When I was in high school in Melrose I had a part time job in the testing lab, cleaning test tubes, beakers, etc. We were reminiscing about grandfather's job, and looked for the company on line and found your web page. I am almost 85 years old. Russ Lunn arlunn29@gmail.com.

  4. I remember the E.L Patch facility in Stoneham from 60's, hard by the railway tracks. Fred Lawson (see above) was retired by then, still living in the same modest house on West St. He had a doctorate from Mass. College of Pharmacy, a wry sense of humor and always drove a white Buick Electra. Though surely in his late 7';s by then, he was keenly perceptive, good hearted and active in the community. He was also a superb mentor to some of that generation's brighter, more wayward youth, one of those people who briefly touch your life, but whose kindness and insight you always recall. Best wishes.

  5. My husband's great grandfather was also Edgar! His grandfather was son Ernest L. and father was Donald R. Below is a link to interesting information in the Practical Druggist (1922). I can't believe how much my oldest son looks like Edgar, and how my husband resembles Ralph. We got back into the history as two of our dons are going to medical school. Edgar was also a poet, and our writer son was pleased to learn that. We had a tube of Patch's Azocol, and sadly it has been lost. I would give love to find some of the old meds like you have to have and keep. Be in touch if you are interested in contacting my husband. Cheers! https://books.google.com/books?id=Ec_mAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA74&lpg=PA74&dq=el+patch+and+company&source=bl&ots=EkNeXLnYyo&sig=axYLcumyOY8a469Pj6yBXtxngPg&hl=en&sa=X&ei=Bir_VJOqIcGqNvmVgPAF&ved=0CCwQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=el%20patch%20and%20company&f=false

  6. My name is Greg Patch and I’ve been sorting family picture and documents this summer. I have an 8 page document called Patchwork. It is an E L Patch Company newsletter describing the company’s Golden Anniversary from 1888-1938. Ralph R Patch was the President at the time. I can send you scans.

  14. I am so happy to find this page and everyone's comments. Edgar L., my dad's dad's dad, ie. my great-grandfather, wrote an autobiography, of which we have copies; it is fascinating! Thanks! Kimberly Patch Kunkel May 2024
